Liquid and Gas

Day 10 Thursday 19th August 2010
Spot the gas cylinder

We arrive at the house at 8.50.
At exactly 9.00 a pump truck roars up.
Out jumps two fellows in sharp blue uniforms and white helmets.
One hands over a little plastic flag with the Kameoka city logo and Shizukas name on it.
He tells us they come around every month and if we want the tank pumped just hang out the flag on a certain day.
Meanwhile the other guy is straight into it...hose out, tank lid open, pumping.
By 9.02 it’s all over. Back in the truck, roaring off to the next job. It was like watching the Ferrari pit crew at work.
If there's a formula one for septic tank crews, these dudes are front runners.
Your average Kiwi tank pumper would still be scratching his arse and thinking about maybe motivating himself to do some work.
Total cost....Y1500...about NZ$27.00
Enthusiastic septic tank guys....now I really have seen everything. But then the Gas Company surpasses even that.
This place has 2 big LPG bottles for heating the water and cooking. When we bought the house these bottles could barely be seen as a spiky bush had overgrown them.
One of the first things I did was to slash the weeds and this bush to expose these 2 rusty tanks.
yesterday I notice that the tanks aren't as rusty as they used to be. In fact, we've got 2 shiny new ones, full of gas.
The gas guys must have been cruising past and noticed that someone is resurrecting this house and figured that they might want some hot water. Without even asking, we got supplied!
