Day 6 Saturday 14th August 2010
An inmate on day release? |
The neighbour across the street has decided that we don't exist and is studiously ignoring us. Don't know what his problem is. Don't care either. He has the worst wig you've ever seen so Shizuka has taken to calling him Mr Trump. His wife is a short surly looking woman who keeps her eyes fixed on the ground. I don’t think they are what you would call wealthy. Her car is an old piece of crap Suzuki Kei car with the paint falling of it. Mr Trump rides an even older 50cc scooter. I get the feeling that they probably resent the fact that we were able to buy this house for a fraction of what they have paid for theirs. All the other people around here have been friendly and welcoming. There are more than a few abandoned houses around here and most people seem to understand that’s a bad thing for the community. When new people come in and start improving the houses that’s a good thing and we have had some good comments from passing locals.
Next stop was Kameoka City Hall to ask where can I dump some of the crap the debtor left on the property. Answer. You cant.
You have to call some private company who come and get it, for a fee naturally. They gave me a brochure with all the fees. It’s hilarious.
Getting rid of a TV is Y835.
A tyre is Y815. If it has a wheel its Y1200.
A mattress is Y680.....and on and on.
There’s a charge for everything you could possibly ever need to throw away. They even have a category for TV antennas!
Garden waste has to be tied into bundles and can’t be longer than 60CM.

The fees are totally random numbers. Whoever made this shit up is an evil genius.
We have just about finished the weeding mission and will lay the polythene tomorrow.
