Plan A

Day 17 Thursday August 26th 2010

The badminton rackets are still on the steps. That’s 3 days people have been stepping over them. Evidently no one wants to get involved in this issue. I’m considering escalating the situation. Maybe if I put some increasingly larger items on the steps it would lead to a breakthrough. How big will I have to go before the inconvenience factor becomes too much for the upstairs residents?
The debtors wife came by today. She was accompanied by 2 removal guys in a truck. Great we thought…she will take this stuff away. What followed was eyebrow raising to say the least. She presented us with a small gift and told us how terribly sorry she was for putting us to such inconvenience. In turn we expressed our sympathy for her situation and offered to help in any way we could. Shizuka then proceeded to show her the boxes we had filled and the labels attached to them detailing the contents. She replied that she didn’t want anything in them. Same for the piles of books. And the piles of shoes. Instead she went upstairs to the main bedroom and opened all the drawers and wardrobe. She then removed all the clothes in them and threw them on the floor. She then instructed the removal guys to take the 2 chests of drawers and the wardrobe out to the truck.  She also took some big dolls and the big CRT TV. And that was it! Shizuka said “what about all your clothes?” She replied that she didn’t want them as they were not fashionable anymore. When Shizuka pressed her to look at the piles of family documents and papers she told us that she had been gone from this place for 3 years and that there was nothing here she needed now. We were a bit shocked at her attitude but then I guess she just wants to forget about all this.  A few more apologies and she was gone.

a small part of the problem
So now we've got a huge pile of stuff to get rid of.  Plan A was to use the local dump which is called ECOTOPIA. A quick calculation of their fees to dump everything resulted in Plan A being abandoned real quick.
What now?? There’s a junkyard by the motorway off ramp. Let’s try him.
This guy seems to collect old electronic stuff and appliances and bicycles and lots of other crap.
It’s kind of hard to tell however because this guy must have missed the “customer relations and communication” unit at business school.
After muttering something he hands us a list of things he will take.
The good news is he won’t charge us for dumping it here.
The bad news is he’svery picky about what he takes.
No fridges. No TVs older than 1995, No glass, No fiberglass, No tyres. No unicycles.
Damn. We actually do have a unicycle we want to dump!
So we at least get rid of the old stereo, video, the 4 electric frying pans and some other shit that’s lying around.
